About
Dr. Sanjit Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (DAE). Previously, he served on the teaching faculties of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata, the Indian Institute of Management Indore, the University of Hyderabad, and VIT-AP University. His philosophical venture was nourished under the guidance of the late Professor Hilary Putnam (Emeritus Professor, Harvard University) from 2010 to 2016.
His research spans the Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Science, Number Theory, Philosophy of Biology, Applied Ethics, and AI vs. Morality. Chakraborty is the author or editor of several books, including Human Minds and Cultures (Springer, 2024), Engaging Putnam (De Gruyter, 2022), Living without God: A Multicultural Spectrum of Atheism (Springer, 2022), The Labyrinth of Mind and World: Beyond Internalism-Externalism (Routledge, 2020), and Understanding Meaning and World: A Relook on Semantic Externalism (CSP, 2016). His forthcoming books include A Companion to Hilary Putnam (Wiley-Blackwell, 2026), New Horizons in the Study of Philosophy of Biology and Interdisciplinary Perspectives (Springer, 2026), and On Numbers: Seeing through Philosophy and Mathematics (upcoming, 2027).
Chakraborty has published around fifty papers in highly respected, peer-reviewed journals. His work has been reviewed and endorsed by leading intellectuals, including Noam Chomsky (MIT), Simon Blackburn (University of Cambridge), John Perry (Stanford University), Sanford Goldberg (Northwestern University), Maria Baghramian (University College Dublin), and Max de Gaynesford (University of Reading). He has delivered invited talks at renowned global institutions such as Harvard University, Oxford University, Humboldt University, the University of London, the University of Dublin, Imperial College London, and the Institute for Visual Intelligence (New York), as well as at various IITs and IIMs across India.
Additionally, Chakraborty serves in editorial and referee roles for journals such as Interdisciplinary Studies in Applied Ethics (University of Toronto Press), Journal of Experimental & Theoretical Artificial Intelligence (Taylor and Francis), Journal of Academic Ethics (Springer), Journal of Scholarly Publishing (University of Toronto Press), Research Ethics (Sage), Sophia (Springer), and the International Journal of Applied Philosophy. He is also a book reviewer for Routledge, World Scientific Publishing, Springer Nature, and Palgrave Macmillan.
