About
Dr. Abhijeet Digalwar, is Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department of BITS Pilani, he has received PhD in 2006 from BITS Pilani. Prior to that he has completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from BNCOE Pusad in 1995 and M.E. from BITS Pilani in 1998. He has over 26 years of teaching and research experience at graduate and post-graduate levels. He mainly teaches and conducts research in the area of manufacturing systems engineering and management. He has published more than 100 research papers in national, international journals and proceedings. He has edited three books, two lab manuals and written various book chapters. Till date he has supervised 4 PhD students, more than 50 Post graduate students and 100+ undergraduate students for their project/ thesis and dissertation work. He has completed three government funded projects.
He is on the editorial advisory boards of national and international journals and working as a reviewer of many reputed journals like production planning and control, international journal of production research, international journal of services and operations management, international journal of business excellence, etc. Dr. Digalwar has organized number of International and national conferences, workshops and seminars.
He has trained more than 500 executives of several leading organizations including NTPC, HZL, BALCO, L&T, Ultratech Cement, Jindal Stainless Steel Ltd., etc under BITS Pilani Off-Campus Programmes and work integrated learning Programmes. He delivered several invited and expert talks at various national and international forum.
Dr. Digalwar visited countries like Denmark, Norway, Finland, Singapore, Malaysia, Srilanka, Dubai for his research work and presentations. He has received the travel grant from CSIR New Delhi for presenting the research paper in IEEM conference in Singapore. He worked as a Visiting Researcher at University of Southern (SDU) Denmark during May-July 2017 under BITS Pilani University Immersion Programme and worked as a Professor and Head Research at Symbiosis International (Deemed University) Pune Nagpur campus during January to December 2023 where he was responsible to develop the research culture and motivate the faculty members for quality research publications. He is active member of various professional societies including ISTE, IIIE, IIE, PMA of UK and DSI of USA. He served as a President, Indian Subcontinent, Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), Atlanta, USA for the period of two years (2016-2018).
He has been awarded by DSI USA for the contribution in the Indian Subcontinent, Decision Sciences Institute, received the recognition from the Chairman, BITS Pilani for the contribution in the Mission 2012 Vision 2020 project. He is also a recipent of best researcher award, Excellent and Dedicated Professional Engagement Award, Best Paper Award, etc.He is also actively involved in various academic administrative work of institute.
