About
Dr. Tapas Ranjan Martha has done his post-graduation in Applied Geology from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad and PhD from University of Twente, The Netherlands. He has over 25 years of working experience at NRSC-ISRO, Hyderabad. He is specialised in remote sensing and GIS applications in various geological studies such as landslide & earthquake disasters, coal fire mapping, mineral exploration etc.. His major contributions include assessment of Kedarnath landslides (2013), Kerala landslides (2018) and Chamoli rock and glacier avalanche (2021), Wayanad landslide (2024) and also Kashmir earthquake (2005), Sikkim earthquake (2011) and Nepal earthquake (2015). In recognition of these contributions, he has received PECORA team award from International Charter 'Space and Major' disasters and many other awards from ISRO itself. He has nearly 80 publications in peer reviewed national and international journals. He is now working on development of a new technique for regional landslide early warning for benefit of the society.
