About

Professor Dr Tapan Ganguly, M Sc., Ph D, FAScT, FLSSI is holding Emeritus professor position in School of Laser Science and Engineering department of Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Formerly he was AICTE as well as UGC Emeritus professor in the same department. He was also Senior Professor and chair of the department of Spectroscopy of Indian association for the Cultivation of Science, Jadavpur.
His current research interests are on the development of artificial light energy conversion devices and organic-inorganic semiconductor nanocomposite systems, artificial photosynthesis, excitational energy transfer, photoinduced electron transfer processes, nano-,pico- and femtosecond laser dynamics, protein-nanoparticle interactions, protein-dye interactions studied by time resolved spectroscopy, development of dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and cost-effective supercapacitors by combining novel synthesized dyads with graphene and carbon quantum dots (GQDs and CQDs) and other nanoparticles and nanoclusters.
He was elected as the fellow of West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology (FAScT) for his outstanding contributions in the field of photophysics and photochemistry and Honorable fellow of Laser and Spectroscopy Society of India.He is the Life member of many learned societies including member (USA) of InterAmerican Photochemical Society. He visited many foreign universities and institutes of USA (several times), Canada (as visiting faculty),UK Royal soc awardee), Sweden (stint awardee), Australia (visiting research scolar awardee), Israel, Japan (Senior short term JSPS awardee), Taiwan, China as prestigious international awardee and visiting professor and delivered many lectures.He has 170 publications in mostly international reputed journals of high impact factors.16 students were awarded PhD degree and 20 students were awarded M Tech under his active supervision in the field of both Science and Engineering.
