About

Yannis Georgellis is Professor of Economics and Management at SP Jain London School of Management. His research lies at the intersection of behavioural economics, labour economics, organisational behaviour, and wellbeing research. His work examines how labour-market experiences, organisational systems, and institutional environments shape subjective well-being, motivation, identity, and economic behaviour over time.

His research is particularly known for contributions to psychological adaptation and happiness economics, demonstrating how major life and labour-market transitions, especially unemployment, can have long-lasting effects on subjective wellbeing and life satisfaction. This work contributed to the broader behavioural turn in economics and the social sciences and has been widely cited in the wellbeing and behavioural science literature.

His broader research explores the behavioural and social dimensions of work, including job satisfaction, employee engagement, public service motivation, self-employment, occupational status, and workplace wellbeing. He has also examined how cultural values, trust, and social norms shape the relationship between work and life satisfaction across European societies.

His research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Science, The Economic Journal, British Journal of Management, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, and Journal of Vocational Behavior. His work has received more than 12,000 citations on Google Scholar.

Professor Georgellis is a Distinguished Associate of the International Atlantic Economic Society (IAES).
