About
Dr. Shiva Kumar G is an accomplished academician and researcher presently serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE), Bengaluru. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Transportation Engineering) from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), and a Post-Doctorate (Research Associate) from the University of Pisa, Italy.
With over a decade of teaching, research, and consultancy experience, Dr. Shiva Kumar specializes in pavement materials, asphalt binder and mixture modification, sustainable and warm mix technologies, waste valorization, and machine learning applications in civil engineering materials. He has published more than 41 Scopus-indexed international journal papers and 2 book chapters/conference papers, and has successfully guided several UG, PG, and Ph.D. students. His funded and consultancy works include a DST-SERB-supported Ph.D. project on warm mix asphalt, a European Commission-funded post-doctoral project on nano-modified asphalt rubber at the University of Pisa, and a BWSSB-sponsored research project worth ₹4.9 lakhs on the reuse of digested sludge ash as a bitumen modifier. He has also contributed as a consultant for Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) and the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR), Government of Karnataka, providing expert guidance on material characterization and sustainable pavement design.
Dr. Shiva Kumar is a reviewer for leading international journals published by ASCE, ASTM, Elsevier, and Taylor & Francis, and is a member of professional bodies including The Institution of Engineers (India), the Indian Water Works Association, and the Institution of Water Engineers (Karnataka). His excellence has been recognized through several prestigious fellowships including the MHRD Research Fellowship (NITK), the National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (IIT Bombay), and the Post-Doctoral Fellowship (University of Pisa). He has delivered invited talks and workshops at REVA University, Ramaiah Institute of Technology, and international forums such as the 1st International Workshop on the Use of Biomaterials in Pavements (Granada, Spain). Through his research, consultancy, and academic guidance, Dr. Shiva Kumar continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of sustainable infrastructure and innovative pavement engineering.
