Dr. Sweety Sharma is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forensic Sciences at Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, Haryana. She was previously associated as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Forensic Biology and Biotechnology at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Delhi Campus. With 11 years of research and teaching experience, she has contributed significantly to forensic education and advanced research in forensic biology and related domains. She earned her Ph.D. in Forensic Science with a specialization in forensic biology and serology from Punjabi University, Patiala, in 2021. Dr. Sharma's research spans several domains within forensic science, including forensic biology, serology, chemistry, anthropology, odontology, diatomology, botany, DNA and wildlife forensics.
Her research focuses on spectroscopic methods for characterizing body fluids, poisonous plants, paints, grasses, timbers, and biological evidence protected under the Wildlife (Protection) Act-1972. Dr. Sharma has a prolific publication record of 42 research papers in prestigious national and international peer-reviewed journals, along with 11 authoritative book chapters. She has authored a book entitled "Advancement in Body Fluid Analysis in Forensics: Current and Emerging Methods," with Springer International Publishing AG.
Dr. Sharma also serves as a reviewer for journals such as RSC Advances, Microchemical Journal, Scientific Reports, Legal Medicine, International Journal of Legal medicine, and Analytical Methods and many more. She has been honoured with 10 best research paper awards, reflecting her significant contributions to the field.
Dr Sharma is an accomplished speaker, having delivered invited talks on forensic anthropology, odontology, crime scene investigation, the role of forensic science in sexual assault cases, psychological techniques, and other pertinent topics. Her academic impact includes an h-index of 17 and an i10-index of 20, supported by her contributions to advancing forensic science through research, teaching, and professional engagements. She has also been awarded various honours such as the Best Student Award and Meritorious Student Award from the Indian Medical Association and best Teachers Award from the National Forensic Sciences University, Delhi Campus. Dr. Sweety Sharma has been recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists, as per the global ranking list published by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier in 2025.
