About
Dr. Manish K. Singh was born on June 1st, 1984, in the village of Chaksingar, District Vaishali, Bihar. He completed his pre-university studies from Chapra, Bihar, and graduated from Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai (MAFSU) in 2011 with a BVSc & AH degree. Immediately after his graduation, Dr. Singh entered Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, where he completed his MVSc and Ph.D. in Poultry Science in 2013 and 2016, respectively. His MVSc work on Neem supplementation in Guinea fowl was awarded the ‘AP Chapter Award’ of the CARI, Izatnagar, Bareilly, UP in IPSA Annual Conference (2013-14), Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. Dr. Singh has also qualified for ASRB NET 2014 (I) in the concerned discipline with flying colors. In addition, he has done PGDAEM-MOOCs (2019-2020) from MANAGE, Hyderabad, to enhance his Techno-managerial competence.
Before his current role as Poultry Farm Manager of UP Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu-Chikitsa Vigyan Viswavidyalaya Evam Go-Anusandhan Sansthan (DUVASU), Mathura, UP (since March 20th, 2017), Dr. Singh worked as Skill Associate, Senior Research Fellow, and Inseminator cum Data Recorder in ICAR funded research projects of GBPUA&T, Pantnagar (2013-16); Guest Faculty, NDUAT, Faizabad (2016); Asst. Prof. (ILFC), KCVAS (GADVASU), Amritsar (2016-17). His expertise in judging Lactating Cows and Buffaloes, Dry Cows, and Restraining Large Ruminants, Broilers, and Layer birds is supported by the first prizes he won in the competitions organized by the Department of Livestock Production Management (LPM), GBPUA&T, Pantnagar.
Dr. Singh's academic skills are well evident through his work as a referee for several international and national journals, including the World’s Poultry Science Journal, Journal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Biological Rhythm Research, the Iranian Journal of Applied Animal Science, The Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, Indian Journal of Animal Research, Indian Journal of Poultry Science, ISAPM Journal (LPM), and many more. His research findings are cited in international and national journals, and he has 206 citations with h-index 08 and i10-index 6 to date. Dr. Singh has robust experience in diagnosing and managing various Poultry diseases. His areas of interest include Breeding and the improvement of productive and reproductive traits for both animals and poultry, especially the native ones. Dr. Singh extensively worked (Ph.D.) on Genetic Studies on Reproductive and Productive traits in Uttara. For his contribution to research on indigenous Uttara (19th breed of chicken India and 1st breed of chicken Uttarakhand state), he received the best researcher award from the International Journal for Research under Literal Access, jointly with the World Research Council (WRC) (2018); fellow award (2019) for Society for World Environment, Food, and Technology (SWEFT), Young Scientist Award (2020) by ICSTPH with ICMR, Certificate of Appreciations by various Scientific Society viz. President Indian Poultry Science Association (2022); Rapporteur (Oral and Poster Sessions) by Animal Nutrition Association (2023); ISGBRD, Agra (2023) and Best Paper Presentation Award in 38th IPSACON and National Symposium at SKUAST-Kashmir (2023).
Furthermore, during his Ph.D. career, Dr. Singh worked for the first time in the Indian context on pre-incubation egg parameters for measuring day-old chick quality in Uttara breeder hens. The effects of pre-incubation egg parameters on post-incubation traits are essential parameters for commercial hatcheries. He has more than 55 research papers, 43 popular articles, 05 review papers, 01 lead paper, 04 invited papers, 04 books, and 01 competitive book entitled “VET QUEST On stop solutions”! For the ‘Veterinary and Animal Science’ Book chapter (Poultry Science) in his credit, he has been awarded 01 number best Book Award by SWEFT.
