About

I am Dr. Athira S. Vijayan, a researcher in Materials Science, Polymer Science, and corrosion-protective coating technologies, with academic and industrial research experience in advanced functional materials. My research focuses on the design and development of nanomaterial-based anti-biofouling, anti-corrosive, and antimicrobial coatings for marine and industrial applications.

My expertise includes polymer synthesis, nanocomposite fabrication, surface modification, coating formulation, materials characterization, structure–property relationships, and biofilm inhibition studies. I have hands-on experience with analytical and characterization techniques including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermal analysis, mechanical testing, electrochemical corrosion studies, and microbiological evaluation.
