About
I am Dr. Muthuraju Sangu, has been working as an Instructor in the PET/MRI core, Radiology, Houston Methodist Research Institute, Houston since September 2022. My expertise is in the field of molecular and behavior neuroscience. Until today, I worked in various neurological disease models such as, role of cholinergic system in learning and memory following hypobaric hypoxia in rat model, role of neurotrophic factors in nociceptive pain in mouse model, role of normobaric hyperoxia on closed traumatic brain injury in mouse model, role antipsychotic drugs on fear and anxiety behaviors in rat model, role of neuroinflammation in alcohol addiction following psychophysical stress mice model, intracerebellar hemorrhage in mouse model, role of presynaptic active zone proteins in alcoholism mice model. I have more than five years of teaching experience to Master and Ph. D students. I was the main supervisor for one Ph.D. student and two master students. Also, I was co-supervisor for eight master students. I received two university level grants and National level grants in Malaysia. I was the principal investigator in three grants and co-investigator in four grants in Malaysia. Furthermore, I have been reviewing more than 200 neuroscience articles in peer-reviewed journals. I am handling editor in BMC Neuroscience. Also, acting as editorial members in peer journals. Received best paper and publication awards. I am an expert in neuropsychopharmacology in different neurological diseases in mice and rat models. Currently working on PET-CT core using mice model of AD and other neurological diseases models. Mainly focusing on neuroinflammation markers. At present, learning the preparation of mice for PET-CT scanning and PET-CT data analysis and quantification using PMOD for mice and human data. Nearly 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals with more than 1400 citations.
