About
I am a biochemist by training and did my doctoral research on replication machinery of M smegmatis. After completion of Ph.D, I did a brief postdoc at SINP on the antibacterial effect of an antimicrobial peptide on Staph aureus. I moved to USA after that and started working with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. How this multidrug-resistant strain of S aureus can modulate its translation in order to survive under different stress conditions was the topic of my research. My postdoc experience helped me to be an independent researcher and upon getting the prestigious Ramalingaswami Fellowship from Govt of India I started my lab on a mission to work on the bacterial stress response.
