About
Graphene since its discovery in 2004 has gained tremendous attention due to its outstanding properties like high conductivity, mechanical strength, large surface area, flexibility, etc. The traditional chemical methods for the synthesis of graphene used sophisticated instruments, high temperatures, and hazardous chemicals. These factors have adverse effects on the environment. Our team works to find eco-friendly methods for the synthesis of reduced graphene oxide and its composites. Ascorbic acid and plant extracts have been used as reducing agents. Graphene owing to its unique properties is used for various applications such as solar cells, supercapacitors, sensors, field-effect transistors, drug delivery, etc. The challenge of generating energy for meeting up the demands of the people is increasing at a rapid rate. Lately, the derivatives of graphene particularly rGO have been studied extensively for the application in energy generating and storing devices. An efficient approach to harnessing solar energy is its conversion to electrical energy using solar cells. rGO is used in different types of solar cells such as dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) and organic solar cells (OSC). Solar power is most abundantly available, a harmless and clean energy source for sustaining energy. Our team works on silicon nanowires and reduced graphene oxide for photovoltaic applications. Also, the generation of energy is not enough. The generated energy must be stored for which batteries and supercapacitors are required. Our team also works on metal oxide/reduced graphene oxide composites for supercapacitor applications. Our team has published many research articles on the above-mentioned works.
