About
I am Jhilik, a neuroresearcher working in the field of Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience. I come from a background in human physiology, and I have pursued my PhD at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, India. I have expertise working in the domain of adult and embryonic neurogenesis, brain regeneration, brain ageing and senescence, adult neural stem cell dynamics, neurodevelopmental disorders, neurodegeneration, epilepsy, neurotoxicity, neuropsychiatric disorders, neuropharmacology, cognition and behaviour. I have published 7 research articles in peer-reviewed journals to date (four as first author), and 3 articles are still in process. I have also presented my PhD thesis work at various national/international conferences/workshops, and I have achieved various best paper awards and travel grants. I have technical expertise in multiple skills such as rodent handling, generation of brain disorder models, tissue processing and sectioning, histological staining protocols -immunostaining, Golgi-Cox staining, Nissl, Tunel, HE staining, confocal and fluorescence microscopy, image analysis and statistical representation, cell culture -neuron/glial cells based assay, primary culture, animal behavioural tests for anxiety, depression, memory dysfunctions, molecular biology techniques, electrophysiology experiments for estimating synaptic plasticity and action potentials. Apart from that, I can also write research proposals, scientific manuscripts, conceptualise hypotheses, experimental designing, demonstrate and mentor, supervise research theses, and manage projects. I also have experience in teaching on the topics of cell biology, systems physiology and neurobiology at the graduate and postgraduate levels.
