About
I, Dr. M. Silambarasan, completed my Ph.D. in Physics (2016) from Anna University, India. I am currently serving as an Associate Professor of Physics and Head – Centre of Excellence in Photonics and Nanotechnology (CEPaN) at Saveetha Engineering College, Chennai.
With 15 years of research experience, my work focuses on Nano-Photonics, Semiconductor Nanomaterials, Nanostructures, and Optoelectronic/Photonics Devices. I am presently engaged in two funded research projects sponsored by IIT Madras (INUP-i2i) and Saveetha Engineering College (Intramural Project). I have also successfully completed collaborative projects with the Nagoya Institute of Technology, Doshisha University, Japan, and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
A key milestone in my career is the fabrication of semiconductor quantum well microtubes (8 μm) on GaAs substrate, a pioneering effort in India.
Currently, I am a Recognized Ph.D. Supervisor of Anna University, actively guiding research scholars. I have authored 23 international journal publications and presented my work at over 25 national and international conferences, workshops, and symposiums. My research has received accolades including Best Paper Awards at the International Conference on Nano-2015 and the National Conference on Nanomaterials-2017.
As the founder and principal investigator of CEPaN (Centre of Excellence in Photonics & Nanotechnology), I have established an independent research hub that has filed three national patents. I also serve as a Reviewer for several reputed international journals and hold lifetime membership in the Indian Society of Systems for Science and Engineering (ISSE).
In recognition of my academic contributions, I was awarded the titles of “Topper” and “Top Performing Mentor” for NPTEL online courses: Solar Photovoltaics Fundamentals, Technology, and Applications (IIT Roorkee) and Fundamentals of Electronic Device Fabrication (IIT Madras).
I am also honored to serve as an Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio).
