About
I am a postdoctoral fellow at Lund University Diabetes Center in Sweden, where I explore the molecular mechanisms underlying muscle insulin resistance, dynamic eQTLs in muscle growth, and the evolutionary aspects of muscle strength. My research is driven by a passion for understanding skeletal muscle physiology, growth, injury, and repair, with a particular focus on miRNAs and exercise physiology.
Before joining Lund University, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN) in Germany, where I investigated the role of miRNAs and genes in intramuscular fat accumulation in farm animals, work with potential implications for meat quality/quantity in food industry and metabolic health and diabetes research in humans. My PhD at Deakin University, Australia, focused on miRNA regulation of NDRG2 in skeletal muscle, particularly its role in muscle atrophy in ALS mouse model.
Grants & Awards
My research has been supported by several prestigious grants, including:
1. SSF Industry-Academia Postdoc Grant (1.5 million SEK, 2023–2026), funding our work between Lund University and AstraZeneca on the RAB3GAP2 project.
2. Fysiografen (97k SEK, 2023) and Paulson Foundation (200k SEK, 2024) Grants, supporting our research on miR-100 in human muscle metabolism and health.
3. Leif Groop Young Scientist Scholarship-Award (200k SEK, 2025) for the MSS51 project, recognizing the potential impact of our work.
Beyond research, I have experience in academic mentoring and teaching, having tutored and assessed biochemistry, physiology and molecule to tissue courses at Deakin University and Lund University. I am also an active peer reviewer for journals such as, Biochemical Genetics, Frontiers in Physiology, Scientific Reports, PLoS One, Animals, Archives of Animal Breeding, and the Journal of Clinical Medicine.
I am always eager to collaborate on research projects at the intersection of muscle biology/physiology, metabolic diseases, and exercise physiology.
