About
Dr. Mahamad Nabab Alam received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the IIT Roorkee in 2018. He has done the PDF from the IIT Kanpur from February 2018 to August 2020. He joined NIT
Warangal as an Assistant Professor in August 2020. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, NIT Warangal. Additionally, he is the Faculty Advisor and Coordinator for M.Tech in Smart Electric Grid at NIT Warangal. His research interests include power system protection, distribution automation, artificial intelligence techniques, networked microgrids, cyber-resilient control and protection of microgrids. He has developed a Benchmark Test System for Networked Microgrids, which is one of his key contributions to the smart grid area. He is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of CIGRE. He is also a member of The Smart Grids International Research Facility Network (SIRFN) and is associated with developing Power System Testing cases under SIRFN. Stanford University has listed him among the Top 2% of Scientists across the World in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. He has been listed as the Top Scholar by ScholarGPS in 2024 and 2025. He received the Best Paper Award five times at various IEEE International Conferences. He has served as an Associate Editor for the Frontiers in Energy Research journal for a special issue on Advanced Protection Schemes for the Smart Grid. He has reviewed several articles for leading IEEE,
IET, Elsevier, and Springer journals. He is one of the organising secretaries of the ICSPER flagship conference of NIT Warangal.
