About

My research aims to advance and apply radar remote sensing datasets for land cover applications.
I am particularly interested in developing new dual- and compact-polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data methodologies useful in land cover characterization. The availability of the multi-frequency dual- and compact polarimetric SAR data with the recent and upcoming Earth observation missions excite me in their optimal utilization for numerous applications.
Recently, I proposed the first built-up area index for the dual-polarimetric SAR data (DpRBI). It can be used for rapid built-up area mapping and has global applicability. I believe that the straightforward approach to mapping built-up area provides an opportunity for a worldwide built-up area product that can be frequently updated for several applications. Further, I extended the concept of Polarimetric Signature to dual- and compact-polarimetric SAR data. A polarimetric signature is a beneficial tool for the improved characterization of diverse land covers. Similarly, the dual- and compact-pol signature is helpful in enhanced attribution of various human-made and natural radar targets.
I look forward to enriching my knowledge of geoinformatics, specifically radar remote sensing and its applications. Moreover, I want to employ my expertise and understanding of the subject for the amelioration of society.
