Dr. Vranda Mysore Narasimha is a professor and consultant at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. She developed the AWAKE Special Trauma Care Clinic for the Survivors of GBV.
She leads multiple extramural and intramural research projects as principal investigator in collaboration with major national and international organizations, including the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Government of India), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), National Commission for Women, Department of Women and Child Development (Government of Karnataka), World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute, and Tata Electronics Limited.
Her research interests include women’s mental health, trauma care, gender-based violence, life skills, mental health intervention for adolescents living with perinatal HIV/AIDS, grief care, art therapies, disaster mental health, and management of digital addiction among adolescents.
She has also served on several technical advisory and scientific committees as an expert for organizations such as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), UNFPA, UNICEF India, and the National Board for Workers Education & Development, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. The Government of Karnataka has appointed her as an expert member for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Special Treatment Units for Rape Victims, Santhana Kendras, and Government Homes for Women under the Department of Women and Child Development.
She is an editorial board member for multiple national and international scientific journals. She has authored over 300 scientific publications in national and international journals.
The AWAKE Clinic for Intimate Partner Violence, established under her leadership, has been recognized as a best practice model in the prevention of gender-based violence.
