About

Dr. Vinay Sharma has obtained his master degree from Sambalpur University, Odisha and has completed his Doctoral research in “Water Jet Cutting”, from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra Ranchi.
He has joined DRDO as Senior Research Fellow and successfully completed a number of projects. For his excellent work in DRDO he got DRDO award. He joined the Department of Production Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology Mesra Ranchi India in February 1999 as Lecturer. He became Reader in the same Department in 2005 and Associate Professor in 2007. In 2011 he becomes Professor.
He has published about 31 research papers in Journals and 39 papers in proceedings of national/international seminar/ conferences and has been awarded certificate of merit for some of his research papers. He has guided more than 22 students in Master levels and 02 in Doctoral research level. 07 students are pursuing their doctoral research work under his guidance. He is a six-sigma black belt holder given by NCQM.
He is the Principal Investigator of UGC Major Research project “Microwave Welding”, Coordinator of Nationally Coordinated Project (NCP) of AICTE, “Deformation and Fracturing Behavior of Metallic Foams” and have obtained FIST-II project from DST.
He was the coordinator of the project for “Time And Motion Study for Payment of Waged to Workers” in the State under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005(NREGA), Rural Development Department Government of Jharkhand February 2008,
He has organized 15 conference of national and international level. He has delivered a number of professional lecturers in the field of Precision Manufacturing and Quality Engineering in various workshops and summer school.
He was assistant editor of “Manufacturing Technology and Research an International Journal “and has edited two books. He is in the editorial board of a number of Journals. He is reviewer of journals published by Springer, Elsevier, Emerald and Taylor Francis.
He has published one book entitled “Water Jet System for Mining under Indian Environment", Vdm Verlag Publishing House Germany, ISBN 978-3-8443-9506-8 and Edited two Proceedings “IT Based Manufacturing” ,Narosa Publishing House, New Delhi, ISBN: 81-7139-509-9 & “Intelligent Materials and Manufacturing” , Satya Prakashan, New Delhi ISBN: 81-7684-325-3.
He is member of “American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME)” (since 2006), “Fellow” of Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI)”, Life Member of “Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE)”, & “Indian Science Congress” Member of “International Production and Operation Management Society”
His field of interest is Advance and Quality engineering.
At present he is working in the field of Production of Metal Foam, Development of AWEDM, Laser Assisted Micro Forming, Laser Metal Prototyping, Microwave Assisted Welding and Green Manufacturing System.
