About
Pratik Gajjar is a PhD student of the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Minho (PT). He is a member of the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering. He completed his Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Dharmsinh Desai University (IN) in 2013 and Masters in Structural Engineering Design from CEPT University (IN) in 2015. During 2015-17, he worked in the industry with experience in structural designs of heavy industries and high-rise buildings. He also took teaching responsibilities at CEPT University (IN) and Ganpat University (IN), having taught structural mechanics courses. He graduated with Masters in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions from the University of Minho (PT) and Czech Technical Univerity (CZ) in 2018. During his studies, he had the opportunity to work on different topics related to cultural heritage and masonry structures. As a PhD student, he is currently working on refractory masonry structures and interacting with different departments and laboratories. He is working with experimental and numerical campaign on refractory masonry at high temperatures and designing experiments with complete testing apparatus. He has experience in advanced numerical modelling of masonry structures under various loading conditions (Thermal, Seismic, Settlement) using advanced FE software such as DIANA and Abaqus. He is also competent in experimental testing of masonry using data acquisition sensors, digital Image Correlation method, and photogrammetry. Within his CV, the most frequent terms used to contextualise his scientific production are masonry, refractories, high-temperature loadings, wall bearing capacity and self-compacting concrete.
