About
The main goal of research in the Ashok group is to fabricate highly selective (bio) chemical sensing devices. For instances, we are faced with the problem of detecting multiple analytes present in the same sample. However, detecting individual analyte with high selectivity and sensitivity is not easy and might require sample pretreatment and separation. To improve the sensitivity, selectivity, and reduce the interference effects, it may be required to use functionalized nanomaterials (carbon nanotubes, graphene, 2D layered inorganic materials, polymer nanocomposites etc.) which could improve the performance of the devices.
Dr. Ashok’s group is interested in synthesising nanomaterials, nanocomposites and biocompatible nanomaterials for various applications such as: biosensors, catalysis, energy harvesting/storage, biodegradable electronics, and flexible electronics. He intends to develop prototype chemical and biosensing devices for detection of chemical, organic contamination, microorganism detection, like bacteria and viruses in food, and environmental samples. He is also interested in functional carbon nanomaterials derived from agri-products for various applications, including for catalysis, energy harvesting/storage (flexible battery and supercapacitors), biodegradable films.
