About
Dr. Satya Sundar Bhattacharya is a professor leading the Soil and Agro Bioengineering Laboratory of the Department of Environmental Science at Tezpur University. His laboratory focuses on various essential environmental research aspects like plant medicinal compounds and their bioactivity under changing environmental conditions, waste management, soil health restoration, nano-fertilizer development, earthworm biology, and gut microbiology, to name a few. So far, he has successfully guided 10 Ph.D. students to secure Doctorate. To his credit, there are more than 100 research articles, including books and book chapters, of which about 89 are in reputed journals with a high impact. His publications are widely cited worldwide, giving him an h-index of 40 in Google Scholar and 37 in Scopus, respectively. An Indian patent on a ‘novel soil conditioner’ was granted in 2020, and the technology has been transferred through licensing. Dr. Bhattacharya was also a Research Professor at Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea, during 2014-15 and has a collaborative research program with Orebro University, Sweden. Dr. Bhattacharya and his team's innovation was conferred with the prestigious Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award in 2018. Prof. Bhattacharya has been elected as a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), after a year of being elected as a Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI); the two most prominent science academies of India.
