About

Dr. Vikas Goel is an atmospheric scientist with over a decade of research experience in air quality monitoring, aerosol characterization, source apportionment, instrument development, and secondary aerosol formation. He is currently a Research Scientist in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech, where he leads the development and testing of a miniaturized gas chromatograph (GC) for near–real-time chemical analysis of aerosols and oversees laboratory operations. Dr. Goel has extensive expertise in both field and laboratory studies and has worked with a wide range of state-of-the-art instrumentation, including ACSM, Xact, PTR-ToF-MS, Aethalometer, SMPS and PAM reactors. He also has experience applying machine learning and deep learning techniques to analyze complex environmental datasets. His doctoral research at CSIR–National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, focused on the physico-chemical properties of atmospheric particles and their implications for aerosol optics, including optical modeling using T-matrix and DDA approaches. Dr. Goel has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and has received multiple international travel awards, reflecting his active contributions to the global aerosol research community.
