About

Mr. S. M. Aamir Ali is an Assistant Professor of Law (Senior Grade) at Vinayaka Mission’s Law School, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata.

Prior to joining Vinayaka Mission’s Law School, he served as an Assistant Professor of Law at Symbiosis Law School, Pune, and earlier at the Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Darjeeling, West Bengal. He holds an LL.M. in Human Rights Law from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, and a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Aligarh Muslim University, Murshidabad Campus.

Mr. Ali has a strong research profile with 37 publications in Scopus-indexed journals, reflecting his active engagement with high-impact national and international academic scholarship. His work has appeared in reputed journals such as Statute Law Review (Oxford University Press), International Annals of Criminology (Cambridge University Press), Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice (Oxford University Press), Journal of Asian African Studies (SAGE Publications), Economic and Political Weekly (EPW), Padjadjaran Journal of Law (Indonesia), Novum Jus (Colombia), Journal of Intellectual Property Rights (CSIR-NIScPR), Brazilian Journal of International Law, Manchester Journal of Transnational Islamic Law and Practice (UK), Brazilian Journal of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Cambridge Journal of Climate Research.

In addition to journal publications, he has contributed scholarly chapters to edited volumes published by leading international publishers, including Taylor & Francis, Springer Nature, Thomson Reuters, and IGI Global. His forthcoming edited volume titled “Colonial Continuities, Global Shifts, and Digital Transformations in IPR: Insights from Asia” is scheduled for publication with Springer Nature, Singapore.

Mr. Ali also serves on the review and editorial boards of several reputed national and international journals, including the Journal of Criminal Law (SAGE Publications), ILI Law Review (Indian Law Institute, New Delhi), Humanities and Social Sciences Communications (Springer Nature), Discover Global Society (Springer Nature), Journal of Human Rights and Social Work (Springer Nature), and the Manchester Journal of Transnational Islamic Law and Practice, among others.

His research interests broadly include criminal law, constitutional law, human rights law, intellectual property law, artificial intelligence, and digital surveillance.
