About
I am a medical doctor and public health leader with over 28 years of experience in health systems strengthening, clinical care, and academic training. I currently serve as Senior Consultant (Human Resources for Health) at the State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC), Government of Meghalaya, where I lead strategic capacity-building initiatives supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. My current work focuses on Health Systems Resilience, workforce well-being (Compassion-Based Care), and competency-based education.
In parallel, I am leading a Preventive Cardiology program for caregivers and patients at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, a tertiary care hospital in Bangalore. In this role, I have designed and implemented a task-shifting model where I guide a team of volunteers, trained and certified under me as "Coach-Counsellors," to deliver lifestyle management and psychosocial support, reducing the burden on specialized clinicians.
Simultaneously, I serve as the Co-Founder and Principal Consultant at SOHOKI, a boutique health advisory firm. Previously, I was the Founder Director of the Ramaiah International Centre for Public Health Innovations (RICPHI), where I mobilized over USD 4 million for health-tech and community ventures. I have held senior leadership roles as Senior Global Technical Advisor at the Medtronic Foundation (managing portfolios in India, Bangladesh, Brazil, Uganda, South Africa, China and the USA), Director (M&E) at Population Services International (PSI), and Associate Professor at the Asian Institute of Public Health (with an Adjunct Appointment at University of Nebraska Medical Centre, Omaha).
