About
Dr. K. Ajith Joseph is a Principal scientist and Executive Director of Nansen Environmental Research Centre - India (NERCI), a non profit Scientific and Industrial research Organisation recognised by Ministry of Science and Technology for environment and climate research (http://www.nerci.in) based in Cochin. Doctorate in Physical Oceanography from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), India in 1998. He joined NERCI as Scientist in 2000. He is the project manager of a new H2020 project under the theme “Building a low-carbon, climate resilient future: climate action in support of the Paris Agreement” jointly funded by European Commission and Ministry of Earth Sciences involving 30 institutes from EU. He has been awarded a new project funded by ISRO under the proposed Oceansat 3 cal/Val programme. He has already coordinated three Research Council of Norway (RCN) projects in India and currently coordinating two other RCN projects- PECO2 and URSAMAJOR. He is a recognised research guide at the faculty of Ocean Science and Technology and also at the Ocean Engineering of KUFOS. Dr. Ajith was the Project manager for the INDO-MARECLIM, an EU-FP7 international project (2012-2015) involving institutes from five EU countries-Norway, Netherlands, Italy, France and UK. He served as a member of the board of studies of KUFOS in the faculty of Climate Variability and Aquatic Ecosystems and Faculty of Ocean Science and Technology. Course Coordinator, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (ISRO) Outreach and distance learning programme at NERCI. Member of the Scientific Council of Nansen Scientific Society, Bergen, Norway and Life Member of the Ocean Society of India. He has more than 75 publications in referred and indexed journals and proceedings and has guided around 15 master students and currently four doctoral students are working under his guidance at KUFOS.

• Member of the Board of Studies in the department of Aquatic Environment Management in the Faculty of Fisheries at KUFOS for 2018-2020.
• Member of the Board of Studies in the department of Environmental Science under the Faculty of Climate Variability and Aquatic Ecosystem at KUFOS for 2018-2020.
• Member of the Board of Studies in the department of Remote Sensing and GIS under the Faculty of Climate Variability and Aquatic Ecosystem at KUFOS for 2018-2020.
• Life Member of the Ocean Society of India
• Life Member of Indian Meteorological Society.
