About

Prof. Sunit K. Singh, with his extensive international experience, is currently the Director of Dr. B R Ambedkar Centre of Biomedical Research (ACBR) at the University of Delhi. In addition, Prof. Singh is also the Director of the Delhi School of Public Health (DSPH) at the University of Delhi. Dr. Singh is a Professor of Molecular Immunology & Virology at his parent organization, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. Prof. Singh has been the Head of the Molecular Biology Unit and the Professor in charge of the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Surgery (CEMS) at the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. Before Joining BHU, Prof. Singh was a faculty member at CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, India, and led a research group in molecular virology. Prof. Singh completed his PhD from the University of Wuerzburg, Wuerzburg, Germany, in Molecular Infection Biology and postdoctoral training from Yale University, School of Medicine, New Haven, USA, and University of California, California (USA). Prof. Singh also worked as a visiting faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, (USA); Institute of Parasitology, Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic; Chonbuk National University, South Korea; and the University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland. Professor Singh has published his work on many domains of Molecular Virology in various peer-reviewed international journals of repute. Prof. Singh has worked on the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Japanese Encephalitis Virus, Dengue Virus, Chikungunya Virus, Zika Virus, and Chandipura Virus. Prof. Singh’s work adds value to understanding the molecular mechanisms of the pathogenesis of different RNA viruses. In addition to his original research publications in high-impact factor peer-reviewed international journals, Prof. Singh has published many books in the area of Infectious Diseases such as: „Neuroviral Infections-RNA Viruses and Retroviruses,” Neuroviral Infections-General Principles and DNA Viruses,” “Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers,” “Human Respiratory Viral Infections” from CRC Press/ Taylor & Francis Group, USA, “Viral Infections and Global Change”, “Human Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases- Vol-I and Vol-II” by Wiley Blackwell, USA and “Neglected Tropical Diseases-South Asia” by Springer, USA. Prof. Singh has been associated with many reputed peer-reviewed international journals as Associate Editor, Deputy Editor, Corresponding Editor, and Editorial Board Member. Prof. Singh has received many awards and recognitions from prestigious organizations such as the Indian Council of Medical Research and the Medical Council of India. Prof. Sunit K. Singh has been selected for the prestigious “Dr. B. C Roy Award” of the Medical Council of India for his academic credentials. Prof. Singh is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences India, an elected Fellow of the Indian Academy of Neurosciences, an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, and an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India. Prof. Singh contributed immensely to understanding the molecular pathogenesis of viruses.
