About
Dr. Ashish Kumar Sahu is serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at IIT Bhilai since 2024.
Dr Sahu holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in manufacturing and automation from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi under the supervision of Prof Sunil Jha. Dr. Sahu also completed his M.Tech. Degree from the National Institute of Technology Warangal and B.E. from RGPV University Bhopal.
Prior to this, he served as an Assistant Professor at École Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, Hyderabad. His professional journey also includes a role as an Opto-Mechanical Product Designer at Suresh Indu Lasers Pvt. Ltd., Pune, in R&D department.
Dr. Sahu significantly contributed to the Design and Development of an Advanced CNC Micromachining System funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) at IIT Delhi. His efforts were recognized with the prestigious Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Appreciation Award in 2020.
His academic contributions include the publication of nine international journal articles, five international conference papers, and two book chapters, along with securing one granted patent. He has also had the opportunity to travel internationally to China and Turkey for research presentations and project collaborations.
Dr. Sahu's research interests encompass advanced manufacturing processes, numerical modeling and simulation, additive manufacturing, industrial automation, smart manufacturing, and Industry 4.0. His research group is dedicated to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation in these areas, aiming to push the boundaries of the field
