Summary of Academic, Research and Administrative Success work done so far (Brief Academic Profile)
During 1981 to 1989: MSc. In Physics with specialization in Nuclear Physics from Department of Physics, Banaras Hindu University. Ph.D. in Experimental Nuclear Physics from Department of Physics, Banaras Hindu University, under the guidance of Prof. J. Rama Rao, using the experimental facilities of Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata. The experimental facilities of Variable Energy Cyclotron have been utilized, to study the alpha induced nuclear reaction cross section on various target materials in different mass region scanning the entire periodic table. Also worked with 400 keV Van de Graaff accelerator/Neutron Generator in nuclear physics at BHU, Varanasi for multidisciplinary research.
During 1989 to 1990: Project Scientist at Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in the project of Prof. R.M. Singru and Prof. V.N. Kulkarni. Utilized the 2 MV Van de Graaff accelerator for Nuclear Physics and Multi-Discipline research. Work for the dedicated set up of Neutron Activation Analysis, for measurement of reaction cross section using various reactor-based materials.
During 1990 to 2001: Senior Lecturer at Vikram University, Ujjain, Teaching PG and M.Phil classes and research in experimental Nuclear Physics using the pelletron facilities at Mumbai and New Delhi and Variable Energy Cyclotron at Kolkata.
During 2001 to 2003: Senior Post Doctoral Fellow at iThemba LABS, Cape Town, South Africa. Research in Experimental Nuclear Physics using the K200 SSC Variable Energy Cyclotron, producing high energy protons and heavy ions
During 2003 to 2022: Associate Professor and Professor at Department of Physics, The M.S. University of Baroda, Teaching UG, PG and Ph.D. classes and research in experimental Nuclear Physics using the pelletron facilities at Mumbai and New Delhi and Variable Energy Cyclotron at Kolkata, research reactors at BARC, Mumbai. Worked with different nuclear models to justify the measured reaction cross sections.
Statement of Purpose
With over 38 years of research experience in cutting edge laboratories, resulting in 135 international standard journal publications (about 90 conference presentations) and about Indian Rupees 90 lakhs funding grant. Following are the objectives:
• Using the accelerator facilities at TIFR, Mumbai, IUAC, New Delhi, VECC, Kolkata, nuclear reactions will be studied. We will work for the development of National Nuclear Data for the design of ADS, fast reactor and AHWR, nuclear data such as reaction and fission cross-section of structural material and fuel elements as well as yields of fission products in neutron induced fission of actinides with medium to fast neutron energies.
• I will try to establish MOU with several international level research institutions in India and abroad. Previously, I have started several MOU at MSU Baroda.
• Teaching in UG and PG level will also be in my list of tasks that I intend to do at Manipal.
• I will devote some of my working time to develop the nuclear laboratory if required or asked by the department.
Outcome of Academic and Research Work:
Produced 15 Ph.D. students, and one student is working for his degree. Successfully completed research projects worth more than Indian Rupees 10 Millions. Published more than 135 research papers. Organized several conferences, workshops.
