About
Professor Bayraktar received his BS, MSc and PhD from Karadeniz Technical University in Turkey in 1988, 1991 and 1995, respectively. He joined the faculty at the Karadeniz Technical University in 1989 where he served at first as an Assistant Professor in 1995, an Associate Professor in 1996 and then a Professor of Structural Engineering between 2003-. He was as a visiting professor at the University of California, Irvine, in 2011, and at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, in 2022-2024. Bayraktar has been working on the analytical and experimental dynamic and seismic behavior of structures. He is ranked among the top 2% scientists in Civil Engineering in according to the Global Database produced by Stanford University. He has 185 international journal papers in SCI/SCIE and over 250 other publications, national and international research and application projects, many journal reviewers, many conference scientific committee members and many invited speakers. He has supervised and examined many MSc and PhD students. He is a member of editorial boards of journals and conferences. Between 2004-2007 and 2007-2013 years, he served as the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University, respectively.
