About
D.Phil., NET, M.Sc. (Gold Medalist) with experience in Research & Publication, Editing & Proofreading (21 years), Science communication (>11 years), Teaching (10 years), Water quality and Natural resources Awareness projects (6 years).
Dr. Kumar conducted interaction studies of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Pb) with Ca, Zn and organic matter in the rhizosphere which ultimately led to the development of cost-effective, sustainable and eco-friendly soil-water clean-up technologies like phyto/bioremediation, enhanced remediation efficiency, integrated the applications of hyperaccumulator oilcakes, elemental sulphar, vermicompost, and microbial co-inoculation for minimizing the ill-effect of cadmium and zinc contaminated soils. Developed better understanding of the problems associated with the toxicity of heavy metals to the contaminated ecosystems and their viable, sustainable and eco-friendly bioremediation technologies, especially the mechanisms of phytoremediation of heavy metals along with some case studies in India and abroad. He developed strategies for C-sequestration and smart organic fertigation systems for maintaining soil health. In addition, he developed nanofertilizer, microbial synthesis of nanoparticles, and water conservation and purification strategies for the River Ganges.
