About
Dr. Debabrata Roy is working as a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIEST, Shibpur, India. He received the B.E. and M.E. degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 1991 and 1994 respectively. He received a Ph.D. (Engg.) degree from Kanazawa University, Kanazawa, Japan in 2002. He has also pursued his post-doctoral research at Kanazawa University, Kanazawa, Japan. Dr. Debabrata Roy has over 27 years of teaching and research experience in the diverse field of electromagnetics, electrical machines and drives, power electronics, and power system protection, fault current limiters, and magnetostrictive sensors for structural health monitoring of different civil constructions. He is the recipient of Gold Medals from Jadavpur University for securing the first position in both B. E. and M. E. examinations. He also received Ashok Memorial Bronze Medal at Jadavpur University. He has obtained the Monbusho Scholarship and the Telecommunications Advancement Research (TAO) Fellowship in Japan for pursuing research work. He is actively involved in various research projects funded by Centrally Funded Organizations like DST. He has published numerous research articles in reputed National/International journals and conferences including IEEE Transactions. Five (5) research scholars have got their Ph. D. degrees under the supervision of Dr. Roy. Currently, three (3) students are pursuing doctoral research under him. He is also the Senior Member of IEEE.
