About

• Dr. Mukul Kumar received his M.Sc. (Physics) in 1986 from Bihar University, India, and served as a Lecturer of Physics there.
• In 1996, he completed his Ph.D. (Physics) on photo-electrochemical solar cell research from IIT, Bombay.
• Subsequently, he pursued 4-year post-doctoral research at IIT Bombay dealing with Indo-French, UNESCO, DRDO and CSIR projects.
• In 2000, he moved to Meijo University, Japan, as a JSPS Fellow and started working on carbon nanotube (CNT) synthesis from camphor.
• After successful completion of this 2-year fellowship, he was absorbed there in the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering as a COE Researcher at the 21st Century Centre of Excellence (2003-2008).
• During 2008-2012, he served there as a Research Professor contributing to faculty education, besides supervising an industrial project on mass production of carbon nanotubes from camphor, which drove his research from laboratory to industry.
• Finally, he came back to India and joined as the Associate Vice President and Head of the R&D Center, HEG Ltd. Bhopal.
• Dr. Kumar has expertise in electrochemistry and photo-electrochemistry of group II-VI semiconductors, synthesis and application of carbon nanotubes, Lithium-ion batteries, and field emission.
• He has published more than 60 papers with total citations >2000, contributed to three books on carbon nanomaterials, and holds 6 patents on glassy carbon and CNTs. He has presented 90 papers in various conferences in 24 countries.
• Besides being frequent reviewer of 55 reputed journals, he is the editor-in-chief of an international journal: Materials Express (American Scientific Publishers).
• He is a member of American Association of Advancement of Science (AAAS).
