About
My research interests are in nonlinear science and computational biology. I am presently Honorary Professor at the IISER Berhampur, after retirement from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi where I taught in the Schools of Physical Sciences and Computational and Integrative Sciences from September 1986 to October 2018. I was at the IIT Delhi as Visiting Professor in the Chemistry Department (2018-2023) and subsequently Honorary Professor in the Physics Department, till end 2024.
My undergraduate education was at Loyola College, Chennai (B Sc, Chemistry, 1972), Masters at IIT Kanpur (M Sc, Chemistry, 1974) and doctoral studies at Princeton University (Ph D, Chemistry, 1978). After a postdoctoral at Caltech (1978-1980) I returned to India and was at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai from early 1981 to August 1986.
Between June 2011 and January 2015, I served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad.
