Prof. Satyabrata Mohapatra is presently working as Professor, University School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, India. Prof. Mohapatra obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, India in 2006. After completing Postdoctoral research from Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi, Brain Korea Visiting Scientist from SAINT, Suwon, South Korea and CNRS Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow from CSNSM, Orsay, France he joined Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, India in 2008 where he is currently heading the Multifunctional Nanomaterials Laboratory.
Prof. Mohapatra is a Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society (FICS) and Member of the National Academy of Sciences, India (MNASc). Prof. Mohapatra has been bestowed with the highly prestigious MRSI Medal (2024) for his outstanding contributions in Materials Science & Engineering. His excellent research credentials are reflected by his more than 140 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, one edited book, two book chapters and over 115 papers presented/published in International/ National conferences. Prof. Mohapatra has been figured in the World's Top 2% Scientists in Applied Physics for the last 6 consecutive years (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025) with best Global Rank # 1397 and ranked 29th among Indian Scientists by Stanford University, USA and Elsevier. He is an Editor of NANO, Editor of Materials Open, Associate Editor of "Nanocatalysis" speciality section of "Frontiers in Nanotechnology", Associate Editor of "Nanoscience" section of "Frontiers in Chemistry", Section Editor of "Current Nano-Toxicity and Prevention" and Editorial Board Member of International journals: Recent Patents in Nanotechnology and General Chemistry. Prof. Mohapatra is a recipient of the highly prestigious MRSI Medal (2024), Outstanding Researcher Award (2025), Outstanding Researcher Award (2024), Faculty Achievement Award (2021), Faculty Achievement Award (2016), Best Researcher in Science Award (2014) and DST Young Scientist Award (2008) and has been included in Top 10% highly cited authors in Royal Society of Chemistry physical portfolio journals. He has been working as a reviewer for over 110 international journals of repute. His research is focused on the development of multifunctional hybrid nanostructures, 2D materials and metal oxide semiconductor based hybrid plasmonic nanostructures and nanocomposite coatings and their ion beam engineering for applications in photocatalysis, catalysis, energy, hydroelectric cells, gas sensing, SERS, biosensing, antimicrobials and water purification.
