About
S. Abdul Rahaman is currently working as an Assistant Professor (Research) at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. He also completed a Postdoctoral fellowship (MKPDF) at the Delhi School of Climate Change and Sustainability, an Institution of Eminence at the University of Delhi. He worked as a Guest Faculty in the Department of Geography, at Bharathidasan University (June 2018- Dec 2020), Tamil Nadu and Bangalore University (Feb 2021- June 2024), Karnataka, India. He graduated and post-graduated from Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore, in April 2005 and from Bharathidasan University at Tiruchirappalli with a Master of Technology in GIS in April 2009. He was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Geography in 2019 at Bharathidasan University. His subject specialisation is land and water resources management, natural hazards, sustainability, RS and GIS. He has actively participated and presented several research papers at international and national-level conferences. He published 40 research papers in peer-reviewed journals (indexed in Scopus and Web of Science) and 7 book chapters. Abdul Rahaman received a few awards and grants. The most prestigious awards of IGU YECG - Late Dr. Manju Singh Memorial Young Scientist Poster Award (2017), Prof. B. Hamamalini- Young Geographer Award (2016) by The Deccan Geographical Society, Pune, and UGIT’S Young Technologist Award (2016) by Union of Geographic Information Technologists, Bangalore University. Further two best paper awards (ICROW’15- by NIT’K and UNIGIS Best Student paper- by the University of Salzburg, Austria & Geospatial Media). He is the recipient of the ISPRS Foundation – Travel Grant to participate in the ISPRS Workshop, at Institut für Photogrammetrie und GeoInformation, Hannover, Germany 2017 and the IEEE YpinSpace Travel Grant to participate in the Young Professional in Space conference in
Dubai in November 2019. He has been actively participating as a reviewer in a few reputed international journals since 2016 and a life member in national and international societies like ISPRS, ISRS, etc. He serves as a treasurer (2018-2022) and Joint Secretary (2022-2024) of the ISRS Tiruchirappalli Regional chapter.
