About
I am a researcher with an interest in attaining sustainability of the environment. I have my graduate and post-graduate degrees in microbiology, and my research areas encompass a multidisciplinary approach seeking solutions to environmental issues such as the energy crisis or soil and water pollution. At present, I am an assistant professor at the Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE), TCG-CREST, and engaged in identifying and developing avenues for green energy. My job also allows me to design courses for PhD students, and interact with them through teaching sessions. As I have started as an independent investigator, I look forward to interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and sharing ideas and opinions. I received my doctoral degree from University of Calcutta and after a short stint of teaching experience, I joined as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Calgary where I worked on bioelectrochemical remediation of persistent organic pollutants. I had my second postdoctoral tenure at University of Bath where I worked on developing low-cost and scalable fuel cell devices that operate with soil for the remediation of recalcitrant hydrocarbons and pesticides. This was followed by a short research associateship in IISER Mohali through an independent grant from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT).
I enjoy teaching, experimenting, and scientific writing. I am a recipient of several awards and recognitions during my doctoral and postdoctoral research and have been granted independent projects. Apart from research, I enjoy carrying out different administrative responsibilities. My work experience in various countries has improved my interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and problem-solving abilities. I believe that my commitment to executing my tasks with the highest standards of accuracy and accountability backed up by years of knowledge and expertise is one of the great assets for any organization I am associated with.
