About
My research lies at the intersection of nanomaterials, ion–solid interactions, and computational materials science, with a particular emphasis on two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) and their structural, electronic, and optical tunability. I am broadly interested in understanding how defect engineering, ion irradiation, compositional modulation, heterostructuring, and external stimuli (such as electric fields or strain) can be employed to tailor the functional properties of advanced materials for nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, field emission, energy storage devices, and sensing applications.
My work integrates synthesis techniques (mechanical exfoliation, drop casting, solid-state route reaction, CVD, PVD, etc.) and experimental characterization techniques (XRD, synchrotron XRD, Raman spectroscopy, UV-Vis, PL, RBS, XPS, SEM, TEM, AFM, etc.) with first-principles modelling (DFT/DFT+U) and thermal spike model to establish correlations between atomic scale modifications and macroscopic material performance. Beyond 2D materials, I am also interested in radiation–matter interactions, band gap engineering, and defect-induced property modulation in semiconducting and hybrid systems. Through a combination of theory and experiment, my long-term goal is to contribute to the design of materials with controllable functionalities, bridging fundamental science and applied research relevant to next-generation electronic and photonic devices. Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary and international research environments through collaborative projects and hands-on research visits to Italy (Elettra), Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, and Spain for experiments, lab visits, and conferences during Ph.D. and current research scientist tenure. Committed to advancing innovation in materials science and sustainable sensor technologies through global research engagement.
