About

Dr Perugu Shyam is a distinguished academic and researcher specialising in Bioinformatics and Cancer Biology. He began his educational journey at JNTU Hyderabad as an Assistant Professor, where he played a key role in establishing the Department of Bioinformatics.
He later joined the ICMR–National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) as a Scientist-B, leading the development of several nationally recognised digital tools, including:

Nutrition Atlas
Count What You Eat
Foodborne Disease Surveillance Portal
Molecular Property Diagnostic Suite

Since 2018, Dr Shyam has been serving as an Assistant Professor at NIT Warangal, where he teaches B.Tech. and M.Tech students and mentors PhD scholars. His prolific research output includes over 62 peer-reviewed publications, two patents, and multiple research grants from national funding agencies.
Dr Shyam’s current research focuses on the integration of computational biology, machine learning, drug design, and chemoinformatics. His computational models have been experimentally validated, and his ongoing projects emphasise the development of innovative, health-related software tools.
As an active science communicator, Dr Shyam frequently engages in international scientific discussions. Recently, he represented India as an invited speaker in Germany and Poland, where he presented his research on cancer progression and treatment strategies.
