About

Mr. Shashikant Saurav is an Assistant Professor of Law at the VIT School of Law, Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai. With almost six years of experience in teaching and research, he specializes in criminal law, with interdisciplinary research interests spanning Artificial Intelligence, Intellectual Property Rights, transgender rights, women’s rights, gender neutrality, and consumer protection.
He is currently pursuing his PhD at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Bengaluru. He holds a BA LLB (Hons.) from Aligarh Muslim University and an LLM from the Central University of South Bihar, where he authored a dissertation on the efficacy of rape laws in India. He qualified the UGC-NET (Law) in December 2019.
Prior to joining VITSOL, he served as an Assistant Professor at School of Law, Ramaiah University of applied Sciences, Bengaluru, Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, for three and a half years, and at the Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri for one and a half years.
A committed academician, Mr. Saurav has presented research papers at various national and international conferences and has several reputed publications to his credit. He is deeply passionate about creating intellectually stimulating classroom environments and encourages students to push the boundaries of their critical thinking. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading fiction and writing monologues.
