Born in the year 1963 at Jorhat town of Assam, India. Completed my schooling in 1978. In 1981 completed my pre-degree education from J B College, Jorhat. Joined Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh as MBBS student in 1981. After 5 years, completed my MBBS with honors in 1986. After compulsory internship and housemen ship joined MD general medicine and completed in the year of 1990. Few months worked as a medical officer in a private hospital in my native place, working hard to join as registrar in a good institution. In the year 1991, got selected as senior registrar of Medicine at Jawaharlal Institute Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry, and after 6-months switch over to Cardiology as senior registrar. This was the year of work experiences and preparation for DM cardiology. Appeared for DM entrance test for CMC, Vellore, one the premier medical institute of India, and got selected as non-PG registrar. After working for a year I successful in getting into DM cardiology in 1994 at CMC, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India.
That was the golden period for me for basic cardiology foundation and opportunity to get involved in various research projects, and national health schemes. Received my DM degree in Cardiology from M G R Medical University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, in the year 1996. I joined as Clinical Asst. Grade I (consultant) at CMC, Vellore and continued for a year before joining as consultant interventional cardiologist at Citi Cardiac Research Center, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh in 1997. Developed interventional cardiology from basic infrastructure for coronary, peripheral, and valvular interventions in this center.
