About

I did my PhD (Genetics and Plant Breeding) from Banaras Hindu University and had been associated with the teaching and research activities in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, BHU, Varanasi. In July 2016, I joined IRRI as National consultant and worked there till August 2017. I am currently working as Assistant Professor/ Junior Scientist in the Division of Genetics and Plant Breeding of SKUAST-K (MCRS Sagam/Khudwani). I have been associated with various aspects of plant breeding with expertise in breeding for stress (biotic/abiotic) tolerance, high yield, early maturity and better quality. I possess a practical know-how regarding marker-assisted selection/ backcross breeding, marker development, QTL/gene discovery, genomics, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), phenotyping and population development. Besides, I had an expertise in maintenance, evaluation, characterization and enrichment of wild and improved genotypes. I’m proficiently capable of contributing towards research publications, presentations and technical reports with prowess for use of computer-based programmes, softwares and bioinformatics tools like SPSS, LaTeX, R packages, marker design, etc. I have been awarded with various laurels like UGC Research Fellowship, ICAR’s Senior Research Fellowship, Best Doctoral Thesis Award, Young Scientist Award and have about 55 publications to my credit.
