About
Dr. Rachit K. Saxena is a crop breeding, genetics, and genomics scientist with more than 22 years of experience in crop improvement research and innovation. His work focuses on developing sustainable breeding strategies and translating scientific discoveries into practical solutions that enhance crop productivity, resilience, and food security.
Throughout his career, he has led and coordinated multidisciplinary research programs involving national and international partners from both the public and private sectors. His contributions have supported the development and deployment of improved crop varieties, hybrids, and breeding technologies for agricultural systems across Asia and Africa.
Dr. Saxena has authored more than 250 scientific publications, including research articles, reviews, book chapters, and conference papers in leading international journals. He serves the scientific community as an editor and reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals and funding agencies and has organized numerous international and national conferences, workshops, training programs, and stakeholder consultations. In addition to his research, he is passionate about agricultural education, mentoring young scientists, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, and providing academic leadership to strengthen crop improvement research for sustainable agriculture and global food security.
