About
My career focuses on connecting longevity with health span through epidemiology and evidence-based rehabilitation that promotes functional independence. By using large cohorts and randomized controlled trials (RCTs), I identify sustainable interventions for successful aging. I also address workforce shortages by validating cost-effective care models. Ultimately, I aim to shift public health systems from reactive to proactive and reduce age-related disabilities. In my doctoral research at the world-class Hong Kong Polytechnic University (QS:50), I led a multicenter RCT assessing the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of self-administered dual-task training for older adults across three districts in Hong Kong. I managed the project lifecycle, developed recruitment strategies, supervised research assistants, and conducted in-person visits to ensure participant engagement. I also cleaned and analyzed longitudinal clinical data and wrote compliance reports for funding agencies. I specialize in analyzing healthcare treatment costs and benefits using TreeAge Pro software. Expertise includes developing Decision Trees and Markov Models to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of intervention, alongside advanced applications of Patient Simulation and Budget Impact Analysis to guide strategic healthcare resource allocation. I am also skilled in data analysis tools such as Stata, SPSS, and GraphPad Prism. I received the 2020 Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship as a graduate research student at the Institute of Science, Tokyo. In 2023, my PhD work won a bronze prize for the best oral presentation. I presented at the AWP Region Congress in 2024, and my abstract was chosen as the best among four by the International Neurological Physical Therapy Association while presented at the World Physiotherapy Congress Tokyo 2025. As a Senior Member of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Collaborator Network at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, I contribute to public health research that quantifies global health trends. Expert peer reviews for GBD manuscripts before and after submission to journals and advises on resources for large datasets. Collaborative research on chronic diseases, injuries, and risk factors has resulted in 61 peer-reviewed publications with over 25000 citations and an H-index of 35 (Google Scholar) in high-impact journals, including The Lancet, JAMA Neurology, and Nature Medicine. Expertise includes analysis of large-scale WHO and GBD datasets to quantify global health trends and inform public health policy.
