About

Dinesh Nagegowda is a plant biologist by training. He obtained his PhD in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Hong Kong in 2004. After PhD he moved to the United States for post-doctoral work at Purdue University, Indiana. He returned to India as Ramalingaswami Fellow of Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India) in 2008. Following a brief stint as Assistant Professor and Ramalingaswami Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar, he moved to CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow in 2009 and worked as Scientist Fellow. In 2012, he was appointed as Principal Scientist at CSIR-CIMAP. He is also Associate Professor of Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR). His lab is involved in elucidating metabolic pathway steps and pathway regulators of plant secondary metabolism with a long-term goal of improving the production of metabolites of therapeutic and commercial value by metabolic engineering.
