About
Prof. Partha Sarkar received his B.E. (Electronics) degree from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra in the year 1990, M.E. (Electronics & Telecommunication) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in the year 1999 & Ph.D in Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in the year 2008. He did his MBA from UTKAL UNIVERSTY in the year 2014. He started his career in Electronics Industries just after graduation. With an affinity towards teaching he left industry job and started his teaching career as Lecturer in Orissa Engineering College in the year 1992. Subsequently he became Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the same college. He became Professor and founder Principal of Nalanda Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar in the year 2007. Again in the year July 2008 he joined as Principal of Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM), Bhubaneswar. He was there till 25th March of 2013. There after he joined as Director (Curriculum Development) in BIJU PATNIK UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (BPUT), Odisha with additional charge of Director I/c for College Development Council, Director I/c for Center for Advanced Post Graduate Studies. He was also TEQIP-III Coordinator for the University. He also served as Registrar of the University as additional charge. He finished his extended tenure from the University on 31st May 2019. He served AICTE, NAAC and DST as experts for different purposes. Presently he is working as Principal of JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani.
His research areas of interest include physics, technology, and characterization of silicon CMOS devices for logic and mixed-signal applications, nanoelectronics, Optical Device and Optical Communication. He has over 40 publications in these areas in refereed international journals and conference proceedings.
Prof. Sarkar is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education and a Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE). He is Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India). He is also Senior Member of IEEE, USA. He is Life Member of ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education). He was ex Vice- Chairman IETE Orissa Section and Ex- State Secretary ISTE Orissa Section. He served as Secretary of IEEE Electron Device Society, Kolkata Chapter for two years and later on served as Chairman, IEEE Electron Devices Society, Bhubaneswar Chapter for several years.
He was nominated for Marquis Who’s Who in the World, USA in the year 2009 and his Biography included in the 27th edition of Who’s Who in the World- 2010. He had also received The International President’s Award for Ionic Achievement by International Biographical Center, Cambridge, England in the year 2010. He had received Shri Jagannath Namaratna Samman 2011 for his contribution in technical education in the State of Odisha. He had received Prakruti Bandhu Puraskar from From Department of Forest & Environment, Govt. Of Odisha, towards Protection of Earth and Environment in the year 2015. He had received number of awards from other organizations also.
