About
I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate-I at the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), Nainital, India. I completed my Ph.D. in Astrophysics at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, where my doctoral research focused on the multi-messenger detection prospects of gamma-ray burst afterglows in the very-high-energy regime.
My broad research interests lie in high-energy astrophysics, astroparticle physics, gamma-ray bursts, and multi-messenger astronomy. I develop theoretical and numerical models of long and short GRB afterglows, with emphasis on synchrotron and synchrotron-self-Compton emission, structured relativistic jets, GeV–TeV radiation, CTAO detectability, and joint electromagnetic, gravitational-wave, and neutrino follow-up prospects. I am particularly interested in understanding how extreme astrophysical transients can be used to probe particle acceleration, relativistic outflows, and fundamental physics under extreme conditions.
In parallel, I work on neutrino physics and detector-event analysis through the Hyper-Kamiokande/IWCD framework, in collaboration with the IWCD software analysis and WatChMaL machine-learning groups. My work includes machine-learning-based event classification and reconstruction studies aimed at improving particle identification, signal purity, and event-selection efficiency in Water Cherenkov detectors.
Before my doctoral research, I gained experience in observational astronomy through photometric studies of open star clusters, including differential photometry and FITS-image data reduction. My technical background includes Python, C++, MATLAB, ROOT, GEANT4, WcSim, XSPEC, ThreeML, Gammapy, JetSeT, and PyTorch, along with numerical modelling, statistical inference, and machine-learning methods for high-energy astrophysics and astroparticle physics.
