About

Dr. Goutam Sarker is an Eminent Retired Associate Professor and Former Head in Computer Science and Engineering Department, NIT Durgapur, INDIA. He received his B.E. (Electronics, 1982), M.E.(Electronics with Computer Sc. & Engineering Specialization, 1986) and Ph.D. (Machine Learning, 1994) from Jadavpur University (JU) as a Full Time Research Scholar, with a Senior Research Fellowship.

He had research experience as Senior Research Engineer in Projects of CSE Dept, of JU. He has 30 (thirty) years POST Ph.D. teaching experience as a faculty member in various Computer Engineering Subjects especially Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He has guided and produced 2 Ph.D. at NIT Durgapur, INDIA. He has 120+ International Journal and Conference publications including IEEE and SCOPUS indexed ones. He has authored two books in the Area of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning entitled (1) "A Treatise on Artificial Intelligence" (2) "Fundamentals of Data Mining - A Comprehensive and Exhaustive Treatise" with copyright and ISBN from Govt. of India. Presently he is authoring a book entitled "An Introduction to Pattern Classification and Recognition" He has authored 10 (ten) Book Chapters. He received merit certificate award and best paper award for his International Journal and Conference papers.

He has examined 6+ PhD Thesis of external engineering institutes including IIT. He reviewed numerous International Journal and Conference Research Papers.

He has three published patents in the broad area of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Dr. Sarker is a Life Fellow of Institution of Engineers (2008), a Life Fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (2008), a Chartered Engineer, a Life Member of Computer Society of India and a Senior Member of IEEE(USA) (2009).

Dr. Sarker is continuing his work in the broad area of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning . His specific work is on Machine Learning, Machine Translation, Speech to Text (STT), Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision, Data Mining, Biometric based Person Authentication, Convolution Neural Networks and Deep Learning . He is also parallely working in the area of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Science, especially in the domain of Stationary and Rotating, Charged and Uncharged Black Holes - and has published 3 (three) International Journal Research Papers and 1 (one) International Conference Paper on Astronomy and Black Hole
