Dr Jaykumar J. Chavan is an academician with a wide range of experience in teaching and research with leadership skills involving managing, developing and motivating teams to achieve their objectives in teaching, research and management of educational facilities. Dr. Chavan has completed his graduation, post-graduation and research degree from Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He is the recipient of meritorious student scholarship for his post-graduation from Shivaji University, Kolhapur and also worked as JRF and SRF during his doctoral research. Dr. Chavan is the recipient of prestigious Young Scientist Fellowship from Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India. He is presently working as a Head, Department of Biotechnology, Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Assistant Professor in Botany, Chairperson, Board of Studies in Biotechnology, Biochemistry & Forensic Science at Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara, India. He has a pivotal role in progress of Department of Biotechnology, Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara. His areas of interest are Plant Tissue Culture, Secondary Metabolite Production, Molecular Characterization and Phytochemical Profiling. He often invited to deliver scientific talk at various seminar and workshops, as a resource person and delivered more than 25 talks. There are more than 35 research publications to his credit including International Books and Book Chapters. The research work of Dr. Chavan is well supported by various funding agencies like Department of Biotechnology (DBT, Govt. of India), Department of Science and Technology (DST, Govt. of India) and University Grants Commission (UGC, Govt. of India). He is working as editor for two international journals and working as peer reviewer for more than 10 journals of international repute. Recently, he has appointed as Research Advisor at NanYang Academy of Science, Singapore. He is associated with 10 Universities/Institutes in India and abroad for academic and research activity. Dr. Chavan has significant contribution in various initiatives of Rayat Shikshan, Sanstha Under his coordinator-ship, Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science Satara received Rs. 5.0 Cr grants.
