He pursued his academic education and research training at the Osmania University, Hyderabad (India), Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad (India), and ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (India). He also earned a Diploma in Technology Management in Agriculture from University of Hyderabad (India). He was a Visiting Professor at the Indo-Myanmar: Advanced Centre for Agricultural Research and Education (IM:ACARE), Yezin Agricultural University, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar; and Visiting Scientist at the School of Packaging, Michigan State University, East Lansing, USA.
Research Interests:
Dr. Panjagari’s research predominantly focuses on Dairy Technology and Food Science, with specialized expertise in food packaging innovations. His core areas of interest include active and intelligent packaging, the development of real-time on-package smart freshness indicators for dairy products, sustainable and biodegradable protein-based packaging films, food bio-preservation, and the formulation of functional foods.
Publications:
He is a prolific researcher with over 70 peer-reviewed publications and a strong citation record in food science and technology. His published literature covers a wide array of topics, including the safety and environmental impacts of paper and metal-based food packaging, the synthesis of green compounds (like phenyllactic acid) for bio-preservation, and the development of synbiotic and probiotic dairy-cereal beverages. Recent notable studies include developing machine-learning-assisted sustainable packaging materials from rice processing byproducts and formulating functional foods like SDG-enriched probiotic dahi. He frequently authors reviews on packaging innovations for dairy supply chain management.
Patents & Innovations:
Dedicated to translational agricultural and dairy research, Dr. Panjagari has contributed significantly to technological innovations geared toward commercialization by ICAR-NDRI. He is a co-inventor of several notable industry-ready technologies, prominently including cost-effective "on-package smart indicators" that detect the freshness and quality status of traditional Indian dairy products.
